Corazon Ang Unang Aswang revolves around the love story of a married couple during the times of Japanese rule in the Philippines, The couple are having a hard time conceiving a child. After joining traditional fertility rites in honor of certain patron saints, their prayers are eventually answered but unexpected circumstances will lead to their baby's death. At this point, the conflict of the story begins.
Corazon Ang Unang Aswang was in direct competition with the GMA Films' My Kontrabida Girl which was also released on the same date. It also defeated two international movies, namely John Carter and The Hunger Games which placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in terms of box office rankings. The film was graded "B" by the Cinema Evaluation Board. It also received R-13 rating from the MTRCB.
